New subscriptions have stopped, monthly renewals will end from October 3, while discovery+ programmes will remain available through partner platforms in India.
New Delhi, September 4, 2026: Warner Bros. Discovery will shut the standalone discovery+ app and website in India on November 3, 2026. The company has already stopped accepting new discovery+ subscriptions in India from September 3.
Existing subscribers will continue to access the service according to their current subscription plan.
For monthly subscribers, auto-renewal will stop from October 3, 2026.
Users will continue to watch discovery+ until the end of their already-paid billing period. After that, the subscription will end automatically.
Annual subscribers whose plans expire between October 3 and November 3 will continue to have access until their current subscription ends. These plans will not renew.
Users whose annual subscription remains active beyond November 3 will receive a pro-rated refund for the unused period after the standalone service closes.
The closure of the standalone app does not mean discovery+ content is leaving India.
Discovery+ programmes will continue to be available through partner platforms, including:
- Amazon Prime Video Channels
- JioTV+
- JioTV
- Tata Play Binge
- Dish TV VZY
- Playbox TV
Warner Bros. Discovery has not yet shared a complete list showing which individual shows will be available on each platform after November 3.
Tata Play currently includes discovery+ among the OTT platforms available through its Tata Play Binge service.
This means users who already subscribe to Tata Play Binge may continue to access selected discovery+ content without using the separate discovery+ app.
Earlier in April 2026, Warner Bros. Discovery expanded its partnership with JioHotstar to launch HBO Max content in India through JioHotstar.
That agreement is separate from the discovery+ shutdown. JioHotstar has not been named as a replacement for the standalone discovery+ service.
India is not the only market where Warner Bros. Discovery has changed the way discovery+ is offered.
In Canada, Warner Bros. Discovery ended its own discovery+ service in February 2026, with the service later continuing through Rogers Sports & Media.
Similar changes have also taken place in several international markets where discovery+ content has been moved to other services or local partners.
- September 3, 2026: New subscriptions stopped.
- October 3, 2026: Monthly auto-renewals will stop.
- November 3, 2026: The standalone discovery+ app and website will close in India.
Existing users should check their billing date and subscription type before the shutdown. Annual subscribers whose plans extend beyond November 3 should also watch for refund details from discovery+.
